LifeWatch Italy is one of the national nodes of LifeWatch ERIC, the European Research Infrastructure dedicated to the study of biodiversity and ecosystems. European Research Infrastructures are pan-European institutions that provide physical and digital facilities for a specific scientific community, to produce new knowledge and address the main planetary challenges. LifeWatch ERIC is a digital infrastructure, which offers access to data, services, and tools for studying biodiversity and ecosystems.
LifeWatch Italy is coordinated by the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) and is currently represented by 35 institutions, including universities, research centres and environmental protection agencies.
The core activity of LifeWatch Italy is the development and management of digital platforms and services for the scientific community and civil society in general. In particular, LifeWatch Italy provides tools for data lifecycle management and cataloguing of digital resources, tools for semantics, virtual research environments, educational and training resources and services.
